It gives me an immense pleasure to welcome you to the Government Degree College Sangrah. It is a vibrant institution of higher learning nestled in the scenic and serene lap of Mid-Shivalik Himalayas. This institution is committed to deliver quality education since its inception and affiliation with Himachal Pradesh University Shimla, in the year 2006.
This institution has a conspicuous character by being located in the Trans-Giri Area. It is at a vantage point in keeping the societal fabric of this agrarian society intact, by barricading the out-flow of the students to the urbane degree colleges of its periphery. The existence of our college is crucial, in striking a balance between the sustenance of rural life and continuance of educational growth of its wards. Our college plays a pivotal role in catering to the aspirants of this area who generally come from economically and geographically challenged regions.
Despite having limited infrastructural areal development, our institute continues to excel in many regards. We are proud to be the second NAAC- accredited college out of the fourteen in the district. Our college library has secured the sixth rank, in a recently conducted survey by the state. This achievement was eventuated for procuring a wide range of academic resources and engaging a large number students with the library.
Our institution pursues a curriculum which is inclusive of co-curricular activities, in an equal measure. The units of NCC, NSS, Rangers and Rovers along with the Sporting and Cultural activities objectify, the harmonious development of young adults. On the other hand, a fair number of clubs and committees, address the dynamics of human behavior and conduct of late adolescents.
We are proud to share that our college acts as a nodal center for initiatives taken by the Govt. of India’s ministry of Education. These prestigious outreach programs of IIRS-ISRO and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan have been our outstanding markers. These programs are aimed at fostering scientific learning and promoting sustainable rural development. Hence, it makes us an agent in the positive transformation of the educational system of our nation. This shift is self-evident by the placement of our alumni in both private and government sector. We can claim to have yielded batches of self-reliant youth with a sense of self-worth.
